REXBURG—Carter Theatre Productions will perform the new musical “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” at Porter Park’s Beehive Pavilion this Thursday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. each night. Admission is free.

The musical is based on the “Percy Jackson” novels by Rick Riordan.

“Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school…again. And that’s the least of his troubles,” Carter Theatre Production’s summary of the musical says. “Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he’s angered a few of them. Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has ten days to find and return Zeus’s stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus.”

The run time of the musical is around 90 minutes.

Tyler Nebeker, Mary Anderson, and William Isle star as the main characters Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. The source material has been performed in New York, off and on Broadway. The show held multiple national tours, as well.

Carter Theatre Productions strives to create beneficial yet inclusive productions for all.

We want to let people know that theatre is for everyone, no matter what you look like or how you identify, you are welcome. We want to help theatre be a more inclusive, welcoming, and fun place to be for everyone.”

Carter Theatre Productions announced the company will also be performing “Puffs Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic” on March 19-22, 2022.
