REXBURG—Welcome to “Adoptable Pet of the Week,” where we at Rexburg Commons hope to unite rescued animals with their forever homes.

My daughter Ada and I visited Rexburg’s Superhero Animal Rescue at 119 S. 4th W. in Rexburg. Ada was in heaven, of course, and was very excited to be a regular contributor for this feature.

At the rescue we met Pugsley. He is estimated to be about 1 year and 3 months old. Rescue manager Annalina Loomis fostered Pugsley in her own home for a while, and she says that once he is settled into a place and trusting of his people, he is cuddly and loves attention.

“He’s so sweet. I love him,” Loomis says. “He’s an ‘I’ll let you pet me’ kind of cat.”

The rescue is full and not taking any new animals right now, so finding homes is more urgent than usual. They are also in need of volunteers to help with general maintenance and cleaning, as well as socializing the cats.

“We make sure they get their exercise and love, which is my favorite part,” Loomis says.

To meet Pugsley and the other cats, or to sign up to volunteer, visit Rexburg’s Superhero Animal Rescue on Facebook and send a message. Staff and volunteers are usually there in the mornings around 10, but you may want to call or message ahead of time to be sure.
