“There is no age limit for a kid in a candy store”

By MaKayla Wheeler

REXBURG, Idaho—The sweetest place in Rexburg is owned by the sweetest people, Mike and Patti Lehman. They are both originally from Wyoming. They ended up moving to Rexburg when an employment opportunity at Brigham Young University-Idaho—Ricks College at the time—opened for them.

They were looking for a business idea, and 10 years ago they made their decision. Since both owners have a love for candy, they decided to open a candy store. It is located on at 58 East Main Street in Rexburg.

Mike and Patti are avid runners, and they would always joke that they ran so much to make up for all the sweets that they love. Thus, Runnin 4 Sweets was the name they decided on.

The candy store offers tons of different types of candy from around the U.S. and around the world. They have international candy as well as old-time favorites. They pride themselves on finding the favorite candies of their customers.

One thing that makes Runnin 4 Sweets super unique is their vast collection of bottled soda. They have over 100 different root beers, the largest selection in Eastern Idaho. Along with the different root beers, they also have 350 other varieties of bottled soda.

Since they take candy and sweets seriously and are always on the hunt for their customers’ favorites, their store has more than doubled in size!

When asked what their favorite type of candy is, both Mike and Patti said that it depends on the day. They have so much variety in their store. One sweet they never get tired of is European chocolate. They love sharing all the different varieties of sweets with anyone who comes in. Their goal is to be happy place. They love to see the kid in the candy store for any age.

“There is no age limit for a kid in a candy store,” says Patti. “We love when someone comes in and finds a candy that they haven’t seen in forever or since their mission or something similar.”

Runnin 4 Sweets is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They can be found at their website www.runnin4sweets.com, on their Instagram @runnin4sweetsrexburg, and on their Facebook page.
