REXBURG — Rexburg Community Theatre will be holding auditions for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on April 15 and 22 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Madison High School, 2300 University Blvd., Rexburg.

Performances will be July 6, 7, 8, and 10 in Porter Park.  Samuel and Jesse Head, the directors of the production, said they’d seen several other Shakespeare in the Park performances in other cities.

“It was fun to see really great theatre being performed in the community and outside,” Samuel said.

Eventually, Samuel began reaching out to those involved in Rexburg Community Theatre to get a production started. He received a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council that will allow the play to be done for free, which means there will be no cost to watch the play in July.

Jesse said they chose “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” because of the play’s setting.

“It lends itself really well to being outside,” Jesse said.

Both expressed excitement about auditions and to see what actors will bring to the table.

“We want to see people with their personality and their interpretations of the character,” Samuel said.

Jesse said that all the various talents and abilities the actors bring will create a melting pot cast.

“Rexburg is just so talented,” Jesse said. “There are so many talented people here.”

For those wanting to audition, Samuel said to come prepared to have fun and be willing to take risks.

“Even if you’re nervous about trying out, come and have fun,” Jesse said.
