REXBURG—Getting active and moving is an important part of taking good care of our bodies. A fun way to exercise is through Martial Arts!

“But where, oh where, can I take such a class?”

Look no further than the city of Rexburg, Idaho!

PAC Jiu Jitsu, now located near Valley Wide Country Store, is a martial arts gym where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self defense classes are taught. Formerly known as Payne Athletic Company, PAC Jiu Jitsu, is owned by Isaac and Amanda Payne.

When asked how they got into Jiu Jitsu, Amanda disclosed that her husband had been training in Martial Arts since he was little and later developed a love for Jiu Jitsu. When they moved to Rexburg six years ago, there was no longer a place for him to do what he loved, so they opened up their own gym and that’s when she fell in love with it, as well. Isaac Payne is also a public information officer and sergeant with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office where he uses Jiu Jitsu in field training.

Amanda and Isaac just celebrated 6 years of business and opened at their new location in June 2021. Currently, they have about 120 students. PAC Jiu Jitsu offers classes for children and adults in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in beginning, intermediate, and advanced skill levels. There are also private instructors that teach BJJ, boxing, and self defense. Amanda Payne offers a Women’s Self Defense class once a quarter. Membership costs range from $50-125 per month. There are membership discounts available for first responders, military, and Madison School District employees.

Amanda Payne expresses, “I love that this sport is available for all age groups and it’s not just geared toward super athletic people. Everyone can do it regardless of age, athletic ability, or body type.”

So come try out your first class for free at PAC Jiu Jitsu and see this hidden gem for yourself.
