REXBURG—Thanksgiving is just around the corner which means PIE.
According to the American Pie Council (Yes, there is such a thing), 90% of Americans agree that a slice of pie represents one of the simple pleasures in life.
White Sparrow Country Store founders Bud and Bree must have heard about this statistic because they opened up a pie-selling business on the outskirts of Rexburg. I had a chance to speak with store manager, Samantha Brown, about this cute and quaint little business.
Bud and Bree began with a home and lifestyle Instagram page and an admiration for a local general store. They dreamed of renovating that 1800s building, and after a lot of hard work and determination, White Sparrow Country Store opened in August of 2020.
Their mission was to overcome trials and do good things with what they had been given. Bud and Bree share, “We believe in creating a home you love. We believe in hard work, dreams, and pursuing your passion in life. We believe in creating spaces to help you achieve the very life you dream about.”
They love the quote “The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home” by Harold B. Lee and return to it often.
The reason the founders chose to sell pies was inspired by Bud’s grandmother’s homemade southern fried pies that he ate growing up in Southern Oklahoma. Bree whipped up a few winning pie recipes and they launched their little family business. They sell sweet and savory pies, Reed’s Dairy Ice Cream, and mixed sodas. They also have a small retail shop that sells home decor, gifts, and other darling knick knacks.
Their family-friendly atmosphere encourages you to sit back and enjoy the simple things in life with their old-fashioned setting throughout the store. Not only is it family friendly, but it is a great date night spot as well. They sell about 10 different sweet pies, depending on the season. There are a variety of unique savory pies such as a breakfast pie, pizza pie, and Mexican-style pie.
Brown explained, “The bestseller changes each week, but you can’t go wrong with the classic chicken pot pie called ‘Farmer’s Pie’.”
I’m getting hungry just writing this! Any way you slice it, these cutie pies are sure to bake you happy.
