REXBURG — Comedian Alex Velluto will take the stage at Rexburg’s Romance Theater
Saturday, the first act of the new year as LOL Rexburg announces a lineup of eight more stand-
up comedy shows.

Velluto is a veteran of Utah-based comedy clubs Dry Bar Comedy and Wiseguys, and has
performed several times in east Idaho.

Aaron Perkins, owner of LOL Rexburg, says he’s thrilled to welcome Velluto and expects him to
be a crowd pleaser.

“He is the epitome of good, clean comedy.,” Perkins says. “I feel like he is one of the
cornerstone comedians of the clean comedy movement. He has done two Dry Bar specials,
he’s had millions and millions of views of his videos online, and he toured with the Dry Bar tour
that went to over 100 cities around the country.”

Perkins says Velluto is an expert at finding humor in the mundane parts of life.

“He just takes the everyday and points out how funny it is or how absurd it is,” Perkins says. “I
feel like those are the best comedians.”

The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Romance Theater at 2 E. Main Street in Rexburg.
Tickets are available at LOLRexburg.com.

Next up, on Thursday, January 26, LOL Rexburg features Jordan Makin, star of comedy
specials “The Big Fat Funny Ginger” and “Heckboy.”

Andy Gold will perform Saturday, February 11. Gold is known for his humorous takes on life as
a recovering heroin addict.

Popular comedian and host of BYUtv’s “Random Acts,” Jenna Kim Jones will bring her act to
the stage Thursday, February 23. Perkins says Jones is one of the reasons he decided to start
LOL Rexburg.

Jenna Kim Jones will bring her standup routine to Rexburg Thursday, February 23 at 7 p.m. at the Romance Theater. Tickets at LOLRexburg.com.

“I went to her show and I laughed so hard for two hours and I came out of that show feeling like
the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders, and I wanted more people to be able
to experience that,” Perkins says. “Whenever I get frustrated by the challenges of marketing this
thing, I just remember that experience. It doesn’t make it any easier to run this business, but it
sure lights a fire and helps me remember why it is that I’m doing it.”

Next is Paul Sheffield, performing Saturday, March 11.

“Paul’s just a solid comic,” Perkins says, noting that Sheffield has produced four comedy albums
and has been a finalist at comedy festivals, including the Rocky Mountain Laugh Off and the
World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas.

Idaho native Heath Harmison will perform Thursday, March 23.

“That guy has a physical energy that is just—his energy is just hilarious,” Perkins says.

Perkins describes Joshua Fonokalafi as “a big Polynesian dude keeping it real on the stage.”
He’ll take the stage Saturday, April 15.

Finally, on Thursday, April 20, Rodney Norman will bring his unique act to east Idaho.

“He looks like a stressed out Santa Claus,” Perkins says. “He’s got quite a following, all across
the country, and if you look at his persona that he’s created, it’s very unique and different.”

Perkins started LOL Rexburg in 2022, soon after moving to Rexburg. He says he has received
“overwhelmingly positive feedback” since starting the venture.

“People have expressed gratitude for bringing positive, quality entertainment to Rexburg,” he
says. He says he has enjoyed working with and getting to know the comedians, too.

“I didn’t expect the comedians to be so down-to-earth and easy to work with,” he says. “It feels
like they really understand the importance of laughter, and they are all very grateful to make
people laugh for a living. They don’t take any show for granted.”
