REXBURG, Idaho—Revamping your wardrobe doesn’t have to break the bank. And with local business owner Rosie Kong taking her online thrift store, Daisy Links, from virtual to in-person this weekend, access to fun and affordable clothing just became a lot easier.
Daisy Links opened in November of 2020 as an online boutique, the wide variety of cute and affordable thrifted clothing catching the attention of many.
“The goal is to provide our customers with a sustainable and cost-effective way to change up their style,” Rosie said.
Rosie was born in Montana but moved to Rexburg at a young age and continued to grow up here. Throughout her childhood, she always felt called to anything vintage, classic, and retro. Often referred to as an old soul and a dreamer, she felt right at home in the different thrift stores she would shop at.
After getting married to her husband Malcolm near the beginning of the pandemic, Rosie decided to take a break from school to figure out what she wanted to do. She wasn’t feeling inspired at her job and felt like something bigger was waiting for her. Taking Malcolm’s advice to “take something she loves and run with it,” she called back to her childhood where she spent a lot of time thrifting with her mom and her friends.
Daisy Links was up and running within a month with help from friends and family, and Rosie couldn’t be more grateful. She had big plans for her little business, and with the physical location opening this weekend, she can check a big box off her to-do list.
Daisy Links’ location will be at 155 W. Main Street #9. They share a space with Alex and Alexys Owens of AA Plant House. The Kongs and the Owenses have similar aesthetics, aspirations, and interests, making them the perfect business team.
“Another really nice thing about us sharing a space is our clientele are very similar. Lots of customers who have come in (while I’ve been working on my store) recently have told me they are excited to thrift and shop for plants in one place. So both of us bringing in customers really helps the other” Rosie said. “It’s not hard for someone to come in meaning to thrift and then end up looking at the plants and buying one. It’s a very nice mutual agreement that works for both parties. We all get along so well and have become great friends. It’s fun going into the store and chatting every day!”
Daisy Links doesn’t have one specific supplier. A lot of students and locals reach out to Rosie to sell the clothes they are getting rid of. That is one of the main ways that new items enter the store inventory. She also goes to thrift stores in Boise, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls. Rosie handpicks all of her items to ensure the best quality for her clients and can’t wait to show the public what she has been working towards.
