REXBURG, Idaho – Bishop L. Todd Budge, Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will address 2,874 graduates at Brigham Young University-Idaho’s 2022 Fall Semester Commencement on Thursday, December 15, 2022. The live event will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center and streamed live at www.byui.edu/live/video.

The university will award 2,131 bachelor’s degrees and 743 associate degrees. Of the graduates, 1,711 are women, and 1,077 are men. Campus-based students make up 1,761 of this semester’s graduates, while 1,027 of the graduates are online students, and 1,087 of those graduating started their college career as BYU-Pathway Worldwide students.

Lawrence Todd Budge has served in the Presiding Bishopric since October 2020. Prior to his call Bishop Budge served as the First Counselor in the Asia North Area Presidency. Other prior Church service includes full-time missionary in the Japan Fukuoka Mission, stake Young Men president, elders quorum president, stake executive secretary, counselor in a bishopric, bishop, stake president, president of the Japan Tokyo Mission, and Area Seventy.

Bishop L. Todd Budge was born in Pittsburg, California, on December 29, 1959. He married Lori Capener in 1981, and together are the parents of six children. He received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Brigham Young University in 1984. Bishop Budge worked for a number of financial firms including Bain & Company Japan, Citibank N.A., and GE Capital in both Atlanta and Japan.

Commencement is a ticketed event, as seating will be limited. Tickets will become available beginning Monday, December 5, at www.byui.edu/tickets or the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office inside the University Store.
