REXBURG – Madison County Prosecutor Rob Wood is trading the courtroom for the stage this holiday season, bringing a touch of magic to Rexburg with “A Winter’s Night,” a Christmas bluegrass concert.

The concert is Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Romance Theater at 2 East Main Street in Rexburg.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here or at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Seats are general admission, and patrons are encouraged to get tickets in advance, as many seats are already sold.

Wood will be joined by eight other talented musicians who aim to create an enchanting evening filled with festive tunes and heartfelt performances. The concert, a celebration of community and holiday cheer, invites audiences of all ages to share in the joy of the season.

“A Winter’s Night” features Wood, Jason Littlefield, Joe Griffin, Joanna Sutherland, Jonner McComber, Avery Eddins, Nyk Vail, Brandon Dogget and Larry Stone, all from the Rexburg area. Wood says the show will feature a mixture of bluegrass, Americana, Celtic, and jazzy music in a happy, eclectic lineup of Christmas tunes.

“Have you ever been to a Christmas show and you’re like, ‘Wow. That was magical?’” Wood asks. That’s the feeling the group is hoping to create with their lineup that Wood says will feature classic Christmas hymns and standards, along with a few less-familiar pieces.

“Any age group will enjoy this,” Wood says, adding that the musicians are all great performers. “There is really neat musicianship, really neat playing.” He says there is a group of amazing singers with “some really great harmonies.”

Wood says the idea of doing this concert has been in the works for years, but had to be put off as he worked on multiple high-profile court cases for Madison County. Now that those cases are wrapped up, he and the other performers decided it was time to bring the idea to life.

Wood has been playing guitar since his youth, and finds it to be a great release from a high-stress occupation. He has a music room in his home, which he says is a no-work zone.

“This is the escape,” he says. “I never bring work in this room.”

Wood, who grew up in Rexburg, says he is thrilled to be part of something that gathers his hometown community together in such a positive way.
