REXBURG — Are you looking for a night full of laughter and family-friendly fun this summer? If your answer is yes, then you have to come see A Midsummer Night’s Dream the week of July 6th! A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most comical works. Couple theatrical excellence with a talented and dedicated cast and you have a night you’ll never forget!
The show directors, Sam and Jesse Head, along with the cast and crew have worked tirelessly since April to prepare a polished performance. Sam and Jesse worked together to write the script and adapt it from the original play. Highlights of the adapted script include a “family friendlier” experience and shortened show time for those kids (and adults) who just can’t sit still.
When asked why they wanted to direct this show, Sam replied that both he and Jesse had previously participated in Rexburg Community Theatre and fell in love with the atmosphere. The opportunity to support their community and bring in talent of all ages was the icing on the cake.
Sam said that he is most excited for people to see the talent that the Rexburg community has to offer. Not only that, but to get to experience Shakespeare from some really great actors. Some may be surprised to learn that this show is non-profit. Everything from publicity and advertising, costumes and props, to the sound system is generous donations of time and materials.
Not only will there be an amazing show, but other festivities as well! There will be sidewalk chalk, bubble wands, and some other activities for children. Efforts are underway to bring food trucks to the event so come prepared with an appetite!
The show itself starts at 7 p.m., but there will be a pre-show at 6:30 that everyone is encouraged to come to! There will be monologues, song numbers, dances, and lectures on Shakespeare from professors at Brigham Young University-Idaho. After the show, there will be a Q&A session for those who have questions.
Come out for a night of fun and games and support your community! See you there!
