REXBURG, Idaho — The snow has finally melted and the sun is beginning to shine once again! Spring is here and the scenery in Rexburg is starting to change from frozen white to green and gold. Whether you enjoy scenic hiking trails or a rooftop at sunset, here are some popular spots favored by local photographers.
- The Rexburg Temple Grounds
- Eagle Park
- The Lodge Parking garage
- BYU-Idaho Ricks Gardens
- BYU-Idaho Orchards
- Cress Creek
- Rexburg Nature Park
The Rexburg Temple Grounds
With luscious green lawns and gorgeous shrubbery decorating the temple grounds, it’s no wonder local photographers use this picturesque area so frequently.
Eagle Park
Located next to the Teton River in Rexburg, Eagle Park (4th North Eagle Park Dr.) features an assortment of greenery such as Conifers and Fir trees. Snap some photos down by the river, too.
The Lodge Parking Garage
Providing a more urban landscape, The Lodge Student Housing complex features a five story parking garage that is excellent for photos as sunset. Local photographer Dalton Parkinson, says this is an unappreciated gem.
“It’s something different than the small town, nature aesthetic you can find here normally,” says Parkinson.
BYU-Idaho Ricks Gardens
Perhaps the most popular spot on this list, The Ricks Gardens at the BYU-Idaho campus is a winner for sure. With ten acres along BYU-Idaho’s south campus, along with countless shrubs, flowers and trees, The Ricks Gardens boast an Edenesque background, used commonly for engagement, maternity photos and more.
BYU-Idaho Orchards
Featuring over 150 different fruit trees and plenty of greenspace, The Orchards offers a whimsical forest look. If you are looking to channel your inner fantasy adventure character, The Orchards is a prime spot for epic shots.
Cress Creek
Cress Creek is a few miles out of town, but it’s worth the drive. It’s a fun and easy hike with gorgeous views of the river and valley below. More information on the trail can be found here. When you get to the parking lot go up the stairs to the start of the trail.
Rexburg Nature Park
The Rexburg Nature Park is easily accessible with lots of great natural backdrops for spring and summer photos. Trees, water, wildlife, and a great view of the sunset.
