Register to Vote:

To vote in Idaho, you need to be registered with the county clerk’s office. You can register to vote online or in person at the Madison County Clerk’s office.

Registrants must be able to show a valid Idaho driver’s license or Idaho ID card, as well as 30-day proof of residence at the current address.

Effective January 1, 2024 student IDs and out-of-state driver’s licenses are no longer considered acceptable forms of ID to register or vote.

For BYU-Idaho Students:

If you are registered to vote in your home state, contact your home county clerk to request an absentee ballot. Please note that the deadline to request an absentee ballot may vary by state. In Idaho, the request deadline is October 25th.

Please Note: if you register to vote in Idaho while already registered in your home state, you may lose your home state residency and any associated financial benefits, future graduate school residency, or scholarships you receive from that state. Check with your home county clerk’s office for the best way to cast your vote if this applies to you.
