REXBURG, Idaho — Holidae Fun & Games, a board game and toy shop based in Rigby, opened the doors of their new Rexburg location to the public on June 18. Located across the street from Providence Square apartments and just south of Porter Park, Holidae features classic games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, over 300 board games, various puzzles and many card games.
“I have plans for this shop,” says Jarek Smith, store owner. “We have a good selection of games at this store, but at our Rigby location, we have much more.”
Smith says that after graduating from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a business degree, he found himself working at a local potato plant for five years. But after repeatedly being denied better positions at the plant, he and his wife chose to sell products on Amazon. This soon evolved into the first Holidae Fun & Games location.
Customers can come and play unlimited games all day for just five dollars. Customers can also rent individual games to take home for the week for five dollars per game. And on Wednesdays, customers can play in the store all day for free.
“The five dollars we charge, it does not go to me, I don’t pocket that”, Smith says. “All of that money goes to adding to our game collection so the customers have a better selection to choose from.”
Smith says they plan to open a mini cafe out of the shop as well.
“We currently offer various chips and drinks, but we are looking to serve homemade meals like crepes as well,” Smith says. “My wife and I come from food manufacturing backgrounds, and we can take food safety very seriously.”
Smith invites community members to come check out the store and all the fun things they have to offer.
“We have something for everyone,” Smith says. “Come in and see.”
Holidae Fun & Games is located in Rexburg at 435 W. Second South, and in Rigby at 458 N. 4000 East, Suite 3 (near the entrance to Rigby Lake).
