REXBURG, Idaho— Dr. Del Parkinson, a seasoned piano performer and professor of piano at Boise State University, is returning to Brigham Young University-Idaho after a long absence on Friday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall.
Parkinson was first introduced to the piano at the age of five in his hometown, Blackfoot, Idaho. His passion for the piano led him to collegiate studies in music. Parkinson now holds a postgraduate diploma from The Juilliard School and a doctor of music degree from Indiana University. He also taught music for eight years as a professor at Ricks College.
The pianist has debuted in London and in New York City at Carnegie Hall. Parkinson has also performed with organizations throughout the nation and world including the Guadalajara Symphony, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Boise Philharmonic, the Utah Symphony, and more.
Parkinson has received awards and acclaim throughout Idaho for his talent including the Boise mayor’s award for artistic excellence and the Idaho governor’s award for excellence in the arts.
