My favorite part of walking the Idaho Falls green belt is seeing the waterfall. It is 600 feet wide. That makes the walk more relaxing for me. I also notice how the Canadian geese run around trying to avoid people. Seeing people boating in the river or going paddle boarding makes me glad that there are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors on the green belt.
The trail is really easy going and mostly flat. Anybody can walk on this 10.5-mile loop. Once, I saw people from different parts of the world taking the green belt trail. I saw a bunch of cyclists ride the green belt trail multiple rounds. It’s an amazing trail to take an evening walk on with your friends. Just enjoying the beauty of the Snake River. There are numerous shops and restaurants that are located close to the green belt. The Greenbelt follows both sides of the Snake River. I remember going for a walk on the green belt for fun, watching the majestic waterfall, and seeing fishermen try their luck at trout fishing.
They do a duck race on the Idaho falls greenbelt. When I went it cost $5 for one duck and $25 for six ducks. The Duck race is usually in August or mid-July. I have been trying contact Idaho Falls Rotary Club to tell you plans for this year, but no luck.
The event before the Duck Race was the speed boat races. They also have a classic car cruise where they provide dinner. Other events include a muscle man semi pull, a ping pong ball event and a Candy Bomber event where people drop candy from planes.
I wish every town had a greenbelt so people could enjoy the river, watch the pretty birds around them and host community events.
